Sustainable Extricko Launches, Bringing Innovative Recycling Solutions for Technical Textiles and Composites
Today marks the launch of Sustainable Extricko, a pioneering company dedicated to transforming how industries manage waste. Focused on tackling some of the most challenging materials—such as technical textiles and carbon fiber composites—Sustainable Extricko is setting a new benchmark for sustainability.

Brothers United: A Sailor and a Scientist Close the Loop
Sustainable Extricko is the brainchild of two brothers, Dr. Joe Penhaul-Smith and Sam Penhaul, who have joined forces to tackle one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. Joe, a successful scientist and doctor with a deep understanding of chemistry and sustainable practices, and Sam, an accomplished sailor who has worked on prestigious campaigns like the Vendée Globe and America's Cup, bring a unique and dynamic perspective to this endeavor.
“Our journey began in the marine sector, where we saw the devastating impact of waste, particularly from technical textiles and composites,” explains Sam Penhaul. “By starting with the materials used in maritime industries, we’re beginning the journey to close the recycling loop, ensuring that these materials don’t end up polluting our oceans or filling up landfills.”
The brothers’ combined expertise and shared passion for the environment have been the driving force behind Sustainable Extricko’s innovative solutions. Joe’s scientific acumen and Sam’s firsthand experience with the environmental toll on our oceans have shaped the company’s mission to create a sustainable future.
