Three Awards. One Mission. Scaling the Future of Recycling.

Over the past few weeks, Sustainable Extricko has received recognition from across the innovation, science, and entrepreneurship landscape. We’re proud to share that we’ve been named finalists for three major awards:

  • Maritime UK Technology & Innovation Award 2025

  • Allica Bank Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2025

  • Royal Society of Chemistry Emerging Technologies Competition 2025

Each of these shortlists recognises a different part of what we’re building—from scientific credibility and industry transformation to entrepreneurial vision.

At the core of all three nominations is a simple idea: we believe the recycling of composite materials—long considered “unrecyclable”—can and must be solved.

Through our pressolysis technology, Extricko breaks down composite waste like wind turbine blades and car bodywork into high-purity fibres and valuable resin building blocks. But we’re not stopping at the lab. By integrating this process into mobile, containerised units, we’re creating a scalable solution that brings recycling to the source—cutting transport costs, eliminating landfill, and unlocking entirely new value streams.

“We’ve always believed that composite recycling doesn’t have to be the unsolvable problem,” says Sam Penhaul, Co-Founder.
“These awards validate that belief—and show that there’s real industry appetite for containerised solutions that meet waste where it happens.”

“Being recognised across science, entrepreneurship, and industry means a lot to us,” adds Dr. Joe Penhaul, Co-Founder and Chief Technical Officer.
“It shows that our model isn’t just clever chemistry—it’s viable, scalable, and ready to make an impact in the real world.”

As we look to fund our first two containerised units and bring them to market, these nominations remind us that the timing is right, and the need has never been greater.
